Donskoy — Right to Read License 1.0

Controlling English text · © 2026 Dimitri Ivanovich Filatov. Pseudonym.

Important. This license grants permissions in addition to rights you already have under applicable law. It does not remove or restrict mandatory rights, statutory exceptions, public-domain freedoms, or non-waivable rules of any competent jurisdiction.

1. Work and rightsholder

“Donskoy” means the integrated published work known as Donskoy_2.0, to the extent owned or licensable by the rightsholder. It may include literary text and official localizations, original software, interface and presentation composition, scene and interaction structure, Layer 3 authored expression, original graphics, audio, animation, documentation, data and expressive arrangement.

For purposes of this public license, the rightsholder publishes and licenses the Work under the public authorial pseudonym Dimitri Ivanovich Filatov / Дмитрий Иванович Филатов. Nothing in this public license requires disclosure of the private real-world identity of the rightsholder.

Third-party software, fonts, media, assets and other materials are governed by their own applicable licenses and notices. This license does not relicense third-party material as original Donskoy property.

2. One license regime; language versions

This is one custom proprietary/public-access license regime: Donskoy — Right to Read License 1.0. The English, Russian and Ukrainian texts are official language versions of the same regime, not separate grants.

If the language versions conflict, the English text controls contractual interpretation to the extent that applicable law permits. Mandatory non-waivable law remains unaffected.

3. What you may do

4. Additional quotation safe harbour

In addition to statutory rights and exceptions, you may reproduce an excerpt of up to 1000 consecutive Unicode characters, including in a commercial publication, if the excerpt is attributed and the use does not aggregate multiple excerpts to reconstruct or substitute for a substantial part of the work.

As a condition of this additional permission, attribution must identify the work, Dimitri Ivanovich Filatov / Дмитрий Иванович Филатов (pseudonym), and the official work link where reasonably practicable.

This 1000-character permission is an additional contractual safe harbour. It does not define or limit any broader quotation or other right that applicable law already gives you.

5. What this license does not grant

Except where applicable law independently permits it, you may not without separate permission:

Share the path, not the corpus: sharing the canonical official link is allowed; mirroring the protected corpus is not automatically licensed.

6. Copyright term, public domain and unprotectable subject matter

Exclusive rights and the restrictions that depend on those rights persist for the maximum term provided by applicable law. This license does not recreate exclusive rights in expression that has entered the public domain.

Nothing in this license claims exclusive rights over facts, ideas, principles, methods, procedures, systems, concepts, discoveries, or other subject matter that applicable law does not protect. The license applies only to protectable expression and other protectable subject matter to the extent rights actually subsist.

7. Fiction and authorial intent

Donskoy is an artistic, satirical, philosophical and fictionalized work. Recognizable real persons, institutions, symbols, historical events and public controversies may appear as artistic or narrative environment. Fictional actions, dialogue, documents, motives and decisions are not factual reporting unless expressly presented as documentary material. Statements made by characters are not automatically statements or endorsements by the author.

Depiction of violence, war, terrorism, armed groups, religious conflict, state action or unlawful conduct is not, merely by being depicted, an instruction, solicitation, glorification, propaganda, justification or endorsement.

The author states no intent to incite national, racial or religious hatred, justify terrorism, promote violence, or insult faith, religious feelings or the memory of the dead.

This fiction and intent notice provides context and states authorial position. It does not create immunity from mandatory public, criminal, civil or platform rules.

8. Jurisdiction-specific context

The Russian and Ukrainian official versions contain bounded local context notices relevant to those publication environments. Those notices explain authorial context; they do not create separate licenses and do not promise immunity from mandatory law or private-platform decisions.

9. Governing contractual law, territorial copyright law and forum

To the extent legally effective, the law of England and Wales governs contractual interpretation of this License and the contractual permissions granted by it, and the courts of England and Wales are the chosen forum for contractual disputes.

Copyright subsistence, ownership, scope, infringement, statutory exceptions, limitations and remedies remain governed by the law applicable in the jurisdiction where protection is claimed or the relevant act is assessed. This license does not purport to replace that territorial copyright law with English law.

This clause is subject to mandatory jurisdiction, consumer, public-law and criminal-law rules that cannot lawfully be displaced. It does not make the ICJ, ECHR, UK Supreme Court or any other court a universal first-instance copyright tribunal. It does not prevent the rightsholder from seeking remedies in any other competent forum available under applicable law.

A separately negotiated substantial commercial license may choose different terms, including LCIA arbitration seated in London. LCIA arbitration is not required by this public Right to Read License 1.0.

10. Technical controls and legal rights

Technical controls may reduce exposure of protected content. This license defines legal permissions and restrictions. Neither creates a guarantee of DRM, and nothing here authorizes invasive tracking, fingerprinting or anti-debugging merely to enforce the license.

11. Third-party notices

Mandatory upstream notices and third-party attribution must be preserved. Where a component or asset carries terms inconsistent with this license, the third-party terms govern that component or asset. No exclusive ownership claim is made over third-party material.

12. No waiver of mandatory rights

Nothing in this license is intended to override a non-waivable statutory exception, compulsory permission, public-domain status, consumer protection, mandatory jurisdiction rule, or other right that applicable law does not allow the parties to exclude.

13. Severability and scope of permission

If a restriction or clause is invalid or unenforceable in a particular jurisdiction, it is ineffective only to that extent and does not expand the permissions granted by the remaining license beyond what applicable law requires. Permissions not expressly granted remain reserved to the rightsholder, subject always to rights you independently hold under law.

14. License identity

This document is Donskoy — Right to Read License 1.0. It is not MIT, GPL, Apache, Creative Commons or another standard open-source/content license. Repository metadata must not describe it as one.
